February 2023 President Update

Happy New Year, Roosevelt Park Neighbors!

The Officers and I hope to see you at our next meeting at Freetail Brewing tomorrow Tuesday, February 21st, at 6:30pm.  Come join us in our new private space at Freetail.  Now that Freetail is open to the public all day on Tuesdays we will be meeting in the brewing room (glass doors to the back and right as you enter.  Also you can actually buy dinner before the meeting and the food is great!  If that is not enough incentive to attend, we have interesting items on the agenda this month.  We will also hear from our SAFFE Officers, a representative from the SAPOA, and you will have opportunity to hear from many of the candidates running for City Council.

Here are some informational items from the past two months. 

Old Business:

·        The newly sworn in Officers held our first board meeting on January 21st. 

·        The Neighborhood Alliance of District 5 hosted a meeting on February 2nd.   Our guests included the Parking Police, the Park Police, and District 5 staff. 

·        “Second Saturday in the Park” was held on February 11th.  Thanks to Grace Morengo-Sanchez for coordinating this fun morning in South town.  

Upcoming Events:

·        Second Saturday in the Park: Parents meet with your kids on the playground. Saturday, March 11th 10am-noon.

·        Unity Festival at Roosevelt Park on Saturday, March 25th, 10am-2pm.

·        Concert in the Park with Agarita, Sunday, April 16th, 2:30-3:30pm, Roosevelt Park

New Business: To be discussed at our meeting

·        Updates from our SAFFE Officers in District 3 and 5, Representative from SAPOA

·        Updates from our District 3 and 5 Council Offices

·        New Association website, signage, and t-shirts

·        Hear speeches from Candidates running for District 3 and 5 City Council.
